UltimateBet is one of the oldest online poker websites still in existence. It was created in 2001, and since then has served billions of hands in various games of poker. The company is owned by “Tokwiro Enterprises Enrg”, a Mohawk company. They are headquartered in the Territory of Kahnawake, which belongs to the Mohawk Nation. This territory is just south of Montreal.

If you would like to start playing poker on UltimateBet, then all you have to do is log on to their website, create and create an account. While creating your account, make sure to enter “bpbc2” in the Ultimate Bet Referral Code field, just like in the picture below. If you do this, you will receive a 111% bonus in your first deposit of up to $1,100. That’s a pretty attractive first offer, I’d say.

When downloading the software and creating your account, you should watch what you download, depending on how you want to play. UltimateBet offers two distinct online poker services. The first, UltimateBet.com, is their full fledged poker website, where you can either play for real money, or play for virtual cash. The second, UltimateBet.net, is dedicated especially for those who want to play exclusively with virtual money, with no deposits and no real cash. Although you can’t win or lose any real money, you’re sure to gain some experience.

If you choose to play for real money, you have a wide variety of payment and cash out options. You can either deposit or withdraw cash from UltimateBet through these following methods: MasterCard, VISA, Click2Pay, ukash, bank wire, ClikcandBuy, MoneyBookers, check by mail, Neteller, Paysafe card, e-checks and U.K. debit cards.

UltimateBet, like many other competitive online poker websites, has a reward program. It is called Rai$e, and it’s advertised to be the “Ultimate Loyalty Club”. It is very simple to grasp, as you play you earn more points and you climb the ranks of the RAI$e ladder. The higher you go, the faster you gain points. There are five different levels which you can achieve, each with its own perks:

  • Member. This is the rank you start off with, so every new player is a “Member”. As a member, you can enter freerolls, refer one of your friends to the website and transfer funds between UltimateBet and Absolute Poker.
  • Player. You need 50 status points to become a player. From this moment on, each point you gain will be doubled. As a player, you can also register in tournaments with your UltimatePoints, or go shopping and pay with the UltimatePoints.
  • Contender. To become a contender you need 500 status points. As a contender, each point you earn will be tripled. As for your benefits, you can exchange your UltimatePoints for cash (unfortunately it’s only $50 each month), and create your own private tournaments.
  • Legend. As a Legend player, you must have 2500 status points (and, obviously, your multiplier increases – each point will be multiplied 4 times). Your benefits include a ten percent discount at the UltimatePoints Store, access to exclusive qualifiers, your own VIP hosting, and the limit for your UltimatePoints to cash exchange increases to $250 every month.
  • Icon. This is the top level you can achieve, and it’s a hard road to get here. To become an icon, you need 10,000 status points (and, of course, your multiplier is now 5 – each point you earn is multiplied five times). As an Icon, you have access to live events, such as the exclusive qualifiers to tournaments like the WSoP and WPT, or the Aruba Poker Classic. You have access to your personal concierge services, you get 5% interest in your account balance, and the limit for exchanging UltimatePoints is $1,000 / month. In adition to all this services, you also benefit from tier evaluation every 6 months, personalized attention on live events, VIP Treats and playing games with the pros. But, to get here, you must be a pro yourself, no doubt.

The UltimateBet software is pretty much “standard”, as far as online poker games go. You’ve got the graphics, which are pretty easy on the eye, allowing you to play for a few hours without feeling like your head is about to explode, the buttons are handy and the game area is kept pretty neat. You’ve got features like an expanded chat area, a hand history and a replay of your latest hands, but the design is too much like all the other online poker games, it doesn’t bring anything new to the table. I would have loved to see something different from them. On the other hand, what I loved was the simplicity – instead of avatars – be it standard or custom, uploadable – there are only a couple of empty chairs where the players should sit. This is definitely less distracting.

UltimateBet is very fond of security and privacy, especially as they know first hand the kind of problems a lack of attention in this department can create. In the past years, the company has been in the center of a huge scandal regarding cheating – they eventually recognized the events, and blamed it on former employees and unauthorized software code. The cheating went on for almost two years – between 2006 and 2007, but now the company claims to have everything under control, keeping a strict eye on security.

Like many other online poker websites, UltimateBet has resorted to some of the greatest players  in the world to represent them in tournaments and act as their image. One of the most representative (in fact, the poster boy for UltimateBet) is Phil Hellmuth, nicknamed “The Poker Brat”. He has an amazing 11 World Series of Poker under his belt, and he’s a member of the Poker Hall of Fame, making him a veritable living legend.

All in all, I’d give UltimateBet a sincere Thumbs up. If you’d like to see first hand what the gaming experience is like on UltimateBet, just remember – when signing up, enter “bpbc2” in the ultimate bet referral code field to gain a 111% bonus of up to $1,100.
